Toshiba packs in the largest screen into the smallest space with its Regza 42XV540U 42" LCD HDTV. With less than an inch of its slim, black bezel extending beyond the screen edges, all you see is the 1920 x 1080 pixel 1080p resolution screen – in the space used for a smaller display.

The Cinespeed panel uses Toshiba's 10-bit technology for 64X more colors than conventional 8-bit panels and PixelPure 4G 14-bit digital video processing. You get smoother color transitions, subtle shading and smoother video. Toshiba's ClearFrame Anti-Blur technology prevents motion blur with a 120Hz refresh rate. DynaLight dynamic backlighting adjusts the light level for each scene to generate improved contrast and black level.

Its tuner receives analog and digital HD over-the-air signals without external components. It displays unscrambled cable channels via its QAM, and SoundStrip speakers provide stereo surround sound. The 42XV540U uses advanced technology to eliminate latency and expand color space. "I chose this TV because consumer reports rated the regza's in the past well. -We wanted a 120 Hz. . .The picture flows well in action movies. -The color is great. The black, I suppose could be blacker, but it is good for me. -The remote control is great. I have seen some remote controls that were very poor in design. This remote seems sturdy, with a user friendly design. -The price was great too. -Pictures are great when you have even a 720 signal. Obviously, even better when 1080. I'd love to try this TV out with a blue ray. -The room it is in has lots of windows, but we see very little glare even in the day with blinds open. -There is very little delay when turning channels. -It does take a few seconds for it to turn on, but it is not upsetting to me.

"Toshiba REGZA 42XV540U 42-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV has Perfect size for my front room. The picture is jaw dropping. I'm watching things on tv I wouldn't otherwise, just because it's in high-def. This TV is the best value for the dollar, and I shopped for months. No pixellation. The remote can be programmed to all of my devices, is easy, and intuitive. I can't think of anything I don't like about this tv. Great purchase."

"I needed a flatscreen to go above my fireplace in a fairly sunny room. It also had to be 120Hz as I watch a lot of sport. I can say that this TV is really incredible, especially when you consider the price. I read "techie" reviews at AVSforum and was impressed. Hockey seems to benefit the most from 120Hz with the fast player movement, fast camera panning, and tiny puck. Turning 120Hz (clearframe) off really makes you realize the difference. The colors are great, bright without being too unrealistic. The sound is good enough. I recommend turning the bass boost to medium to reduce some occasional distortion. Although it has a glossy frame, its thin, so isn't too distracting. The IR passthrough feature is great - I have the TV above the fireplace, and the A/V components off to the side out of view. The only negative thing I've found so far is the time it takes the TV to readjust after changing channels (using an HD satellite box...it takes a couple of seconds to change channels). However, I am not sure if this is the TV's fault or the satellite receiver. I've had the TV for several months and am still impressed every time I turn it on. "

"Pros: I like the the quality and function offer for the price I got it for. I got it for $300 (Price here $1099.00) less somewhere else. Very surprising for Newegg. 4 HDMI, Verizon TV Remote easily detects TV. The 120Hz refresh rate for this price is great.
Cons: My last 32" Toshiba has been moved to the bedroom. It has a built-in Ethernet connection and DVD player. I miss with this one. Auto detects the video signal and changes the screen size every time you change the channel even if you set the screen size to what you want.
Other Thoughts: Having my last Toshiba work so well for me help to believe this one will also. That is helpful and valuable when paying this kind of money for a TV. I thing the value is there.

"I recently started looking at tvs since my old, 30 inch tube tv wasn't working with my xbox 360. After a couple weeks of searching, asking questions and looking I acquired a 42XV540U for the low price of 1199 at a local retailer new in box and took it home that night and hooked it right up. The picture clarity is amazing, there are 4 hdmi inputs for using all sorts of hi def goodies. Compared to the other tv's on the shelf, the clarity and the frame rate(120 hz) made my movies and video games look way better then my friends plasma 42". I would recommend this product at such a low price to anyone looking for a clear, well priced product. "
