Sharp AQUOS LC-42D65U user reviews

"Pros: I bought Sharp AQUOS LC-42D65U 2007 Nov. Its been one year since I bought. I returned the first tv because it had a white lines above and below. Now it has a big white circle in middle of the screen when switched on. The white spot comes visible during night scene

Cons: Good picture quality...

Summary: I liked it becuase it looks attactive. Its sleek model and good looking. It was expenseive when compared to others. If it fails the quality, we cannot do anything with that tv.

1) White lines above and below screen : I was told this happens in all HD channels. Not sure whether its a tv problem or cable problem.
2) Having had this for 11 months, I got an issue in the middle of the screen. Its a big white circle which appears while watching the night/dark screen. I called sharp and they said its a defect. I returned the TV again.. "

""I purchased 52D92U about a 1 1/2 years ago and the bass sound is terrible but the TV resolution is incredible. I use it with a home theatre sound system. The 42D65U TV have better audio and the picture is just as good. Hook ups, mounting are also very easy ..." "

"I'm really very pleased with Sharp AQUOS LC-42D65U. Have not noticed any ghosting, but I haven't tested a game (waiting for cables), I would assume the 6ms GTG is fast enough. Colors were vibrant and clear once adjusted. Watching anything on a 1080 input signal I'm stunned. Whereas SD 480i signals are adequate and totally watchable. Great set of inputs, the lack of DVI on TV's is very common and adapters for dvi-vga are easily available. Didn't list the speaker as a con, because its totally adequate, and not any worse than other Televisions I've come across. Great buy, give it a shot.

"Check the reviews for the lc42d64u model. The "65u" is the fall 2008 version of it. I had to do a lot of research (hours) to figure this out. Even Sharp's website is still listing the 64u's at this time.

There have been over 60 5 start ratings on the 64u at amazon.com so I thought you might be interested in a little more feedback before making your purchase. Given the vast price difference, I figure it's just new and no one knows about it so this may be a get it while you can opportunity...

According to the site mentioned, the only difference is the energy star functionality, which can be turned off, according to the previous rater.
